Private Name Servers (Child Host Records ) on LK Domains

Private name servers are your own DNS name servers, for example if your domain name is xyz.lk, your private name servers goes as ns1.xyz.lk and ns2.xyz.lk

While .LK domain support private name servers. However there are some limitations as below.

1. You can create maximum 5 child host records only. Example.

ns1.xyz.lk

ns2.xyz.lk

ns3.xyz.lk

ns4.xyz.lk

ns5.xyz.lk

2. When you create host record, you must provide IP address of your DNS server ( this is same way it works on other domains)

3. When you create child host records, private name servers, your domain also automatically update in to same name servers.

Therefore, before you create child record you need to make sure

1. DNS Server is installed and configured on given IP Address

2. There is DNS Zone ( zone file) created on your DNS sever of your main domain. ( example, the domain xyz.lk must have configured on your DNS Server)

To create private name servers ( child host records)

1. Log-in to LankaHost client area, located in https://manage.lankahost.net/clientarea.php

2. Navigate to Domains => My Domains

3. Click on "Manage Domain" link, next to your domain name

4. Click on "Name Servers" tab

5. Update your name servers in the format, ns and IP. Example.

ns1.xyz.lk 172.217.194.139

 ns2.xyz.lk 172.217.194.94

Note, the IP address must be from your DNS Server.

Please see sample below,

Please note, once this updated, it will take 12-24 hours to propagate the change.

ns1.xyz.lk 172.217.194.139

 ns2.xyz.lk 172.217.194.94
